VIANNEY OUT OF THE BOX!

The HUGE crate, as big as a sarcophagus, was flown in from Manila. Everybody in the community knew that Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales donated a life-sized image of St. John Vianney to the seminary. But Lo! The box was heavier than anyone thought. All the more, the excitement to open the crate was building ... building up. Until finally, finally ... the image was more than life-sized! The beautiful sculpture of the Cure' of Ars now stands at the entrance of the SJVTS Main Chapel...

Jorge Beneito, SJ lived in Peru for most of his Jesuit life.  He arrived in Cagayan de Oro last June 12 and will be teaching Scriptures and Christology.  He says he is getting used to the warm weather in Cagayan de Oro, also after having been in Manila for the past 4 months.  He lived in the cool and mountainous area of Cuzco in Peru...

SJVTS COMMUNITY OUTING

VISITING PROFESSOR

The entire SJVTS community trooped to Jasaan, Misamis Oriental last June 11 for its regular beginning-of-the-school-year-outing.   From Jasaan port, the group was ferried to White Island (a sand bar off the coast) by the huge fishing boat owned by the family of Fr. Raul Dael.  5 years worth of future ordinations were safely accommodated in the big (not to mention clean and comfortable) fishing vessel.  The community stayed in the island for mass and some recreation...
